Why we built this calculator
The Malaysia Freelancer CP500 Tax Calculator exists because self-employed Malaysians — freelancers, consultants, sole proprietors, and gig workers — often have no employer, no HR department, and no payroll system to explain how much tax they owe or when it is due. Salaried employees can glance at their payslip and see PCB deducted automatically. Freelancers cannot. This tool was built to close that gap: a free, straightforward way to estimate net business profit, see where that profit lands on LHDN's progressive tax bands, and understand what a CP500 instalment schedule actually looks like in ringgit terms.
What this tool is — and isn't
This calculator is an independent, free planning tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (LHDN) or any Malaysian government agency in any way. It does not file taxes, submit any information to LHDN, or store your financial figures on any server — every calculation runs directly in your browser.
The results are estimates for personal planning purposes only, based on publicly available LHDN rate tables and relief caps for Year of Assessment 2025/2026. They should not be treated as a final tax assessment, and they do not replace advice from a licensed tax agent or LHDN's own MyTax portal for anything beyond general planning.
Who this is for
Freelance designers, developers, writers, tutors, consultants, e-commerce sellers, and any Malaysian resident earning business income under Form B. Whether you are estimating your very first CP500 notice or double-checking LHDN's own figures against your latest invoices, this calculator is designed to make the arithmetic behind Malaysian freelance tax transparent and immediate.
Our commitment
We keep the calculator free, ad-supported, and free of account sign-ups. Tax rates and relief figures are reviewed periodically against LHDN's published guidance, though we always recommend confirming final figures directly with LHDN or a licensed tax professional before making financial decisions. If you spot anything that looks outdated or incorrect, we welcome you to reach out via our Contact page.
